Why does my cycle's Gear Shifter (red lever) keeps slipping out of gear?

A slipping Gear Lever (from high gear back to lower gears) may be caused by a loose Tension Screw.

How to Adjust the Gear Lever Tension (tool required: #2 Phillips Screwdriver)

Shift the Gear Lever up and away, to the most forward position (Emergency Brake position).
Locate the Tension Screw at the center of the right side of the Gear Lever (the right-hand side when in riding position).
As you hold the Gear Lever in the Emergency Brake position, user your other hand to slightly tighten the Tension Screw using a #2 Phillips Screwdriver.
Rotate the Gear Lever and check that the lever:
(A) Moves up/down with the force of one finger.
(B) Holds in place when set into gear positions.
(C) Stops the motion of the Flywheel within one revolution when pushed forward to engage the Emergency Brake.

Fine-tune the Gear Lever tension by tightening/loosening the Tension Screw as needed. Be sure to hold the Gear Lever in the Emergency Brake position during adjustment.
